Historical Overview
Jurnal Bisnis dan Ekonomi (JBE) has its origins in GEMA Stikubank, an academic publication issued in Semarang under ISSN 0854-0640. The publication was established as a medium for disseminating scholarly thought and research related to economics, business, management, and other relevant academic fields.
In March 2002, GEMA Stikubank formally adopted the name Jurnal Bisnis dan Ekonomi. The change represented an important stage in the development of the publication by establishing a clearer scholarly identity and a more focused contribution to business and economic research.
Under its current title, JBE carries Print ISSN 1412-3126 and continues to be published twice a year, with issues released in March and September. The journal publishes empirical research and conceptual studies in management, accounting, and development studies.

Foundation
The history of JBE began with the publication of GEMA Stikubank in Semarang. Published under ISSN 0854-0640, the periodical provided an academic forum for scholarly works produced within and beyond the Stikubank academic community.
2002
Transformation
In March 2002, GEMA Stikubank changed its name to Jurnal Bisnis dan Ekonomi. The journal adopted Print ISSN 1412-3126 and strengthened its academic orientation toward business, economics, management, accounting, and development studies.
2018
Digital Development
In November 2018, JBE received Online ISSN 2655-3066. This milestone supported the journal's transition toward digital scholarly publishing. During this period, the journal also renewed its cover, article template, and publication layout.
Today
Continuing Mission
JBE continues its role as a scholarly publication of Universitas Stikubank. The journal provides a platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to communicate original empirical findings and conceptual developments in its areas of academic coverage.
Publication Continuity
Throughout its development, JBE has maintained a regular semiannual publication schedule. Issues are released in March and September, supporting the continuous dissemination of research and conceptual scholarship in business and economics.
The journal's development from a printed academic periodical into an online scholarly publication reflects its commitment to improving accessibility, editorial quality, publication management, and the visibility of research produced by its contributors.

Manuscripts are examined using a similarity-detection tool before proceeding to peer review. Manuscripts that satisfy the preliminary requirements are evaluated by at least two qualified reviewers.
